I have just had a call to say that my vRS has arrived at the dealers and I will be collecting it next week.

There have been a lot of tales of horrendous waiting times and some quite rightly exasperated "owners" so I am quite pleased in some ways to pass on my experience which might help you decide if this is a reasonable waiting time ?

The car, a vRs estate in Steel Grey (+ a few extras: cruise, climate, parking sensors etc.) was ordered on Aug 12 with a projected delivery date of Dec 12...(16 weeks). After reading about all the delays I thought this was hopelessly optimistic and settled down for a Mar 1st arrival !

However, on Sept 30 I received an E Mail from my dealer (who has been excellent incidentally) to advise that my car was being built in Wk 41 (wc Oct 10th).

I then had a 2nd E Mail, on Oct 22, the car had been built (on time) and was "awaiting despatch"

Today, the dealer has phoned to tell me that the car has arrived and collection is being arranged for next week.

So to summarise:

9 weeks: From order to build.

2 weeks: Confirmation that built car was "awaiting despatch"

1 week: (plus a bit) Confirmation that car was with dealer.

12 weeks from order to car being ready for collection.

I have got no idea what a Steel Grey vRS will look like ! but will be finding out soon !

That's the colour I wanted but they didn't 'allow' it in the UK!

I order mine in white, receive it, drive it for 3 months and they release grey! :no:

That anthracite grey metallic not steel grey :no: steel grey is a light grey like satin grey :yes:

No..... it was a case of "This is my experience; it might help you make up your mind if you are put off ordering...."
