Rear screen

Featured Replies

Does anyone elses switch click when you turn on or off the rear screen?

When I say switch I mean a noise that comes from the drivers area like a connection has taken place

Sounds like the relay...

Ah ok, best to change it before it stops working then. Easy inexpensive job?

Yeah, and now you've noticed the clicks you can never unnotice them!

One strange thing I've noticed with mine is when starting from cold and manoeuvring out of a parking space with the power steering working hard, I can hear the relay for the heated rear window clicking every so often! Does anyone else's do this? Its only ever with the HRW switched on that it happens. The car has always done this, and doesn't appear to have any other faults.

Either mine has a problem, or its the canbus system cleverly cutting power to non-essential electrics when the electro-mechanical PAS is drawing a large current. Anyone know?

No, hang on -- the relay SHOULD click when you switch the rear window heater on. It's a relay controlled circuit -- the relay clicks when it switches on, and clicks when it switches off.

If it didn't click, the heated screen wouldn't be working.

It sounds like there's nothing at all wrong with it

Mike

Thanks Mike

I have always heard the click, but seeing as I remembered I thought I would ask on here. Will turn the radio up a little louder ;)
