1.9 elegance misfiring problem?

Featured Replies

Hi there, car is 2003 fabia estate, my journey home from work is 36 miles and at the same point every day it starts to judder and misfire as if only running 3 cylinders or something, this happens about 3 miles from home and just after a 4 mile down hill section,

And i only just manage to get home (big loss of power and juddering)

No lights on the dash etc, and after its left overnight it runs fine untill the same spot the next day?

Any ideas on what i can check - before i take it to the local garage, and pay loads of money just for them to tell me they dont know what is up with it :-((

Cheers mike

Download vag com and buy a lead of eBay for a tenner do a scan. Might tell you something.

Does sound heat realted. Coil plugs and ht leads sound like your best bet.

If its a derv I've had two cars recently coming in with exact same issues and the cats had blocked up. It's ok with normal driving but as soon as you doing higher speeds. Hey presto misfires juddered and cuts out.

Hope this helps

Hmm. Hard to say. VAG-COM should point you in the right direction.

I've ordered a new coolant sensor and I'll try that first, I might order a vag com lead and software, is it hard to use? the only other thing it might be is the injector wiring loom,is the 1.9 tdi from a 2003 elegance a pd engine?

Taffy

I think the key to this is the downhill section of road... It could be a vacuum/boost leak.. The new injector loom is about £40 from vw or skoda and I can almost guarantee they will have them in stock at any given dealer too!

Cheers tom, does it sound like an injector loom issue, your right about the downhill section, i thought it very strange at first

just been in to skoda, parts guy told me £130 plus, just for the loom,

Theres a couple on ebay for around the £50 mark, would there be any difference in them?

Panic over, phoned the same parts guy with reg, £52, is it difficult to do, i am going to ask a mate to do it, any pointers,

If anyones looking/interested, car is working fine, took my mate about 40 min, no vag com etc, after reading various threads took a chance it was the injector wiring loom at fault, and i am pleased to say it was ;)

Cheers
