Silty Estelle

Featured Replies

I've been doing some engine work on a 130LSE [not mine], had a problem with overheating ect. It had the usual silt build up around numbers 3 and 4 liners...the sheer amount of it surprised me, it must surely have some effect on the cooling system..the photo below doesn't really fully show how much there was because some had fallen off.

That is painful to see Dave! It always used to get hot under the collar during motorway runs and now I see why.

I got the car as a birthday present for my mum in 1999, but despite it being delapidated when I aquired it it has proved to be a very relaible car for her. Thanks for working your magic.

Bloody hell, no wonder it put the kettle on, and rattled like a pair of maracas

Hi Dave, I did these jobs & more on Chicken Eyebrows Feli before he owned it. The cylinder jacket not only had that sludge round it & the remains of a gasket but all sorts of bits & peices that had been dropped in the cooling system over the years! The timing chain wasn't quite as bad as yours but the head had disolved into gulleys & craters in various places!
