K&N Panel Filter Fitted, Question!

Featured Replies

Hi Friends, after fitting a K&N panel filter, there is now a huge gap between the bottom of the filter and the bottom of the stock box. At the bottom of the stock box is a plastic tray with lots of directional slots in. My question is, does this tray need to be left in with the K&N or can it be removed. Only reason I ask is it seems to vibrate a lot. Also, with it having what looks like directional slots, will it ruin the airflow? Cheers, in advance, for your advice.

I had a Pipercross filter in my first MkII Superb 2.0 170 for two years, I removed the plastic deflector and had no problems, I think you will find it was intended as a water deflector for certain models, ie Audi which did not have the same air inlet position. As the genuine filter is paper and actualy sits on this deflector it would not seem aid turbulance in the airbox more like restrict airflow.

I have also fitted a Pipercross in my second MkII Superb 2.0 1.7 with the deflector removed and have had no problems.

I have also never had any DPF problems or loss of fuel economy.
