Air Filter on Fabia

Featured Replies

Can anyone tel me how i remove the plastic off the engine to get to the air filter

The airbox is way over to the right hand side (follow the air intake)

There's two philips screws on the left hand edge (nearesr the engine) - remove those being careful not to drop them into the engine bay, then the airbox top kind of slides up and to the right. You'll see two grooves that two sticky out bits on the top part slot into. These will have to be re-inserted when refitting the top.

Once the top is off, the air filter is right in front of you. :)

Some pics which might help?

Remember they're upside down. ;) (no comment regulars! :grumpy: ) Two screws to the side, and it seems there's only one clip to guide the top into place, not two like I said. :)

I don't mean to contradict you, but are you totally sure?! The airbox design / placement hasn't been altered at all through out the Fabia design / build time to my knowledge. The only thing within the plastic engine cover I can think of is the oil top up / filling nozzle. I'l try to find a picture.

Ok, here's one. You see the engine cover to the left which covers the main working part of the engine? The oil cap can just be seen in that shot. To the bottom right is the battery cover, and to the top right is the airbox which contains the air filter. (see how the air intake goes from the grill, into the airbox and back out to the inlet manifold on the engine?) Hope this helps.

D,

Let me explain.....the vRS and Fabia 1.4 8v shares the same airbox. The one that ruster describes is the 16v version of which the airbox sits on top of the engine block of which the airbox is a part of. For the benefit of Ruster, the ENTIRE engine cover has to be removed to enable the filter to be changed.....

my 2cts worth.... :D

The plastic engine cover on the 16v doesn't have any screws holding it in place - it "sits" on many rubberised mounts which are a very tight fit. As such, it usually feels like you're going to snap something when you try and remove it :)
