2004 Corolla Verso 1.8T3 vvti DEPOSIT TAKEN

Featured Replies

NOW SOLD Now FOR SALE AGAIN DEPOSIT TAKEN!

This is for SWMBO's Corolla Verso.

It's dark grey, with black cloth upholstery. It has a 1.8vvti engine. Mileage is around 68k. Comes with two keys.

Climate control, reversing sensors and Nokia Bluetooth kit.

Tax till 31st Jan and MOT till 24th Feb 2012.

Seven seater, with the two seats in the boot folding into the floor like a Zafira.

Now the bad bits. It has a split about 100mm long on the front bumper where the edge of the front crash bar is. She bumped a campervan at a roundabout. There are a couple of other minor scuffs on the bumper too. Some of the mounting point are broken but the bumper sits straight anyway. Ideally it would need a new bumper.

The radio CD doesn't work. It didn't work at all but at the weekend I took the radio out and re-flowed some of the solder joints, now it works intermittently which I guess you could call an improvement! :giggle:

There is (or has been) a noise coming from the front left when turning right at roundabouts. Been doing it for six months but now, strangely, seems to have stopped.

If there's someone sitting in the left rear seat, when you turn right the courtesy light comes on.

No service history, but its just had a oil change done at the local garage in Driffield. Service history now found, see post dated 17th Nov.

eBay auction has a starting price of £2400 and a Buy It Now of £3350 which is mid way between Parker's "Private Good" and "Private Poor".

I hope you can see I'm being as honest as I can about the car! Please let me know if you have any questions.

In the picture below you can see the split, above and to the left of the fog lamp

Boot, with the rearmost (third row) of seats folded down.

IMAG0063.jpg

Rear seats up. The marks on the interior trim are just from a damp cloth and have dried out now.

IMAG0067.jpg

The third row can be split, one up one down

IMAG0066.jpg

Boot with roll away load cover. This can fit under the trim in the boot when the third row of seats is up.

68580 miles

Switch for passenger airbag, useful if you have young children in the front. Or if you just don't like your passenger :giggle:

IMAG0095.jpg

The bumper split. I drilled a hole at the top to stop it splitting any further.

IMAG0091.jpg

A couple of car park scrapes too :dull:

A bit of wear on the driver's seat

I don't mean any offence, but it might be a good idea to try an auction?

None taken  you mean eBay or British Car Auctions sort of thing?

Just a local car auction, it's probably the best way to "get rid" - sounds like an idea minicab!

BCA are not good. by the time they sell your car with no reserve(over 5 years old) take out the entrance fees. sellers fees you will be left with £2000 at most. you got to remember most buyer at bca are traders and know it is a private enter with no reserve and will bid very little for it. with the fault you listed it is not that bad of a car if you spend a few £ on it.

its a 1.8 petrol most minicab drivers wouldnt touch it

That's why I said a local car auction, not a big company like BCA :)

Just to emphasise - this is a low end TRADE price. It's about the same price as WeRobAnyCar.com have offered (and their valuation includes the damage as described above)

Put some pictures up Martin it wont hurt the sale

yes, will add them up at the weekend. It's dark when I get home during the week now

Pics added. Apologies for the iffy quality, it was my wife's camera phone.

A quick trawl on Auto Trader this morning shows two identical cars retailing for £4500 - £4800 and one even selling for £7000! :o

Come on, even if it's not "your thing" someone could make a tidy profit out of this! Don't make me call Mike Brewer!:giggle:

"If you're after more room I'd offer you a swap for our 7 seat Toyota Corolla Verso. Unfortunately as I said its such a dog I won't sell it to a forum member "

why is it advertised on here then ?

That's a fair point. I decided subsequently that if I was honest about all the faults and problems, then people can make an informed decision about it. I did think about deleting the earlier comment that you've highlighted, but decided that I'd leave it in; that it wouldn't be honest to remove it.

I can honestly state that there is nothing else wrong with it that I am aware of. I personally don't like the car and never have really. I think it's inferior to the Octavia in every way. But it is what it is, and now SWMBO is doing more miles for work and doesn't need such a big car, we'd like to get something smaller.

Thanks for bringing it up though Bettsy, I think it's a point better dealt with in the open.

My opinion of it, and statement of all the problems, is reflected in the price. Why else do you think I'm selling a car privately for trade money? If I was trying to pass it off as something it wasn't, I'd be asking at least another £1000 for it.

I think it's a cracking price and will be a good motor for someone. I'd be tempted if we didn't already have a people carrier.

I've had a good rummage round the house and I've managed to find the service history!

First service mileage 10902 (intermediate), date 5-12-05 by Toyota, Tawney Street, Boston.

Second service mileage 21155 (full), date 3-01-07 by Marshall's Toyota Peterborough

Third service mileage 29644 (intermediate), date 9-04-08 by Tomblin's Garage Peterborough

All of these are stamped into the service book and supported by receipts from the garage involved.

Additional services (receipted)

Mileage 555530 (interim) date 27-8-10 by Vantage Toyota, Scarborough. Advisories - rear brake pads 90% worn (subsequently replaced by me), N/S/F driveshaft oil seal leaking, transmission oil topped up.

Mileage 68500 (interim) by Ellis Brothers Driffield. Date November 2011. Can't find the receipt for this at the moment but it's here somewhere or failing that I'm sure they would produce a duplicate.

The history also includes all the previous MOTs; 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Current MOT expires on Feb 24th 2012.

The log book shows one previous keeper

We bought the car on 20-2-2009.

Sold via eBay, payment pending

Buyer has pulled out of collection tomorrow with a lame excuse and vague promises to collect "in a week or two".

Now up for sale again, will take £2750 (which is what it sold for on eBay). Will consider a very near offer if it's the difference between selling it this week and not.
