Swissol - Which one ?

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm after some info regarding Swissol wax. Now looking on the net there are variuos types of wax they supply, onyx, samuria (jap cars), saphir, sheild with/without ptfe and best of show wax. I've gotta 2002 octy black magic pearl, so which would be the best, not including best of show due to the price ! :) many thanks

I use Saphir, on dark metallic blue.

I'd go for the Saphir (which I used on my black one and on silver ones) or the Shield with PTFE.

Mystery gives a brilliant finish but is mighty expensive.

There's a form you can fill in on their website with details of your car and it's colour, and they will send you their recommendation for the type of wax to use and also a catalogue and price list.

So the only difference with onyx and saphir is 10% more carnauba wax ? Excuse my ignorance haven't used wax in years, only polish (slap wrist)

I use the Shield wax on my 2 yr old Magic Black vRS

Can'r rightly remember the name of the one I have...concors...or something like that...has teflon in it.

Very good....even brings up silver car very shiny.

Edit: just had alook at the site and they don't seem to have the one I got but I imagine its been renamed to Shield as that has PTFE in it.

As one of the largest Swissol distributors in the UK, having advised hundreds of clients as to what is best, it comes down to this:

1. Select the right wax for your car - in the case of Skoda, this is Onyx, Saphir, Best of Show or Shield. Swissol is great for any colour, it excels on dark ones.

2. Consider what your price point is.

3. Allow for purchase of Cleaner Fluid - you really do need this to make the most of the wax.

4. Onyx- a fine product to buy if the price is a heavy consideration and its in no way a low grade option. Saphir will last longer and give a deeper shine, Shield only really necessary for heavy use cars, ones parked next to railway lines, used off road or which habitually get filthy and Best of Show gives a wet look shine which not everyone wants.

5. Expect your purchase to do your car about 25 times ( assuming its one of the average size models), and unless its heavily used, perhaps 4-6 times a year - I'm assuming here that the car is an everyday drive, not a weekend special. Thus, its good value and saves you loads of time oer cheaper products.

6. I use it on my car.

I must admit I've chicken'd out of buying Swissol (for now anyway) and bought Mequiars, been recommended to me by a friend who uses it, his car does look good after a clean. So I'll try this first and perhaps try Swissol later (without telling the wife :) ) Many thanks for your help chaps
