is it possible 18" alloy

Featured Replies

according to the manual recommendation i mostly can use a 17" rims to my car

the rims shop advise that i can use the 18" saying that he installed to lots of Octavia cars same as my engine.

surly the 18" look greater but is it possible and if it's what Tyre should i use with it 225 40 or 225 35 or 225 45 ..??

You don't say what engine you have (unless I've missed something using the mobile view), but yes, lots of octys have 18s, vRS comes with them as standard here.

225/40 is standard tyre size.

it's 1.6MPI 1595CC 102HP

As others have said, no reason why you could not run 18" wheels.

You should choose a tyre that is suited to the width of the rim you choose. The profile should such that the rolling radius for the new tyre remains the same as (or very close to) your OE tyre.

There are lots of sites on the web that can help you - just google "tyre size calculator".

Bear in mind that an 18" rim + tyre will probably be heavier so may have a small adverse affect on the cars handling and acceleration, plus future replacement tyres will be more expensive. Benefits - increased footprint so potentially more grip, less sidewall flex so possibly sharper feel in the corners offset by reduced ride comfort.

HTH.

I have seen images of Octavia's running 20" rims so rim diameter will not be an issue, what you will need to remember as Rob says to keep the same rolling ratio and also look at the offset, use this site to calculate all the parimeters.
