warranty company giving me hell!

Featured Replies

hi i previously posted a topic about my injector fault. i have had the car 8 weeks and only have 5 weeks left on my warranty...if thats what u want to call it. i have a 05 fabia vrs 50k miles on clock. the day i got it home the eml lamp came on and i got it checked at a well known mechanic company. it came up on diagnostics as a injector code. then i went to another company and they also said injector. got in contact with the warranty company, they told me they would need to send out there own inspector to check car before paying out. There inspector had said that there was not enough evidence it was injector fault.. the letter said i quote "they noted it was rough running and eml lamp was on, they advised its unlikley to be an injector fault but perhaps a sensor or engine bay wiring loom. the vehicle fault has not been identified and as such we are unable to authprise any repairs."

now u can prob understand my frustration as i believe they are stalling before my warranty runs out. im really stuck with what to do because no company will check car if they believe they will have an issue bein paid. which is understandable. does anyyone have any clue what i should do.

thanks

Which warranty company?

It's not unusual for them to wriggle. It's how they save money.

Welcome to the forum by the way. :)

momentum warranty. thanks :)

Well I've never heard of them, but according to the website they are regulated by the FSA.

So I'd contact their claims department and tell them you'll go to the FSA and if that doesn't work take them to small claims court.

Just get a letter from the two places you've been to saying the fault was showing up as an injector on the coding, and tell them this, so you can make it look like they are trying to wriggle out of it.

That's all I can think of right now...

If they still won't pay then get the work done.

When it is the injector it's time to pay the nominal fee and go through small claims court. I doubt they'll fight it, but I also doubt they'll want to let it go that far.

Just for info, this is exactly why I avoid warranty companies like the plague. They make money when you don't claim, so have no interest at all in helping you.

Actually, I've just gone through their website. It clearly lists "pump and injectors" there.

Did you buy the car privately or through a dealer?

Thanks for all the replys i struggle to get on a laptop these days, the warranty company recomended a garage to me who have checked the car today to discover that 2 of my injectors are from a 1.4 3 cylinder fabia. so it looks like who ever had it before me has had a quick job done by possibly going to scrappies to get parts or something and then sold car. The dealer i bought it from should have checked the car thoroughly should they not have known this? warranty company doesnt cover that obviosly. so its a case of refund or they pay for the 2 me injectors. might have a fight on my hand?

Sounds like the car is not fit for purpose then, which means you need to go and see the dealer you bought it off.

Wether they knew or not, they sold you a defective vehicle. And as a dealer they are responsible.

There is quite a lot of info on the web about the obligations of a dealer when selling a second hand vehicle and your rights.

yeah i will check these out. the dealer to be fair to him has been quiet cooperitive with the whole situation since day 1 looks like he is looking to get the car fixed for me so fingers crossed.

TBH, you stated that the day you bought it you got home and the eml lamp came on, if that had happened to me i would have taken it straight back to the garage and requested that they put it right immediately. If they refused i would have demanded a full refund etc and left the car with them as unfit to drive/to sell.
