Car dont always start

Featured Replies

hi i have a felicia and to start the car first thing in the morning ONLY you have push the peddle 3 times then turn on the ignition and wait for the pump to stop or light go out then turn the key to start the problem is it only starts 60% of the time, if it don't start first time then you have to leave it an hour of 2 and try again and sometimes it starts fine others you have to leave it longer, this only happen on the first start of the day and the rest of the day the cars great runs smooth and the right revs its even good on petrol i'm getting around 40mph does anyone have any idea what the problem could be if so please help.

Depends on the engine type, your car says Felicia 1.2 which wasn't made. Petrol 1.3 single point injection (SPi), 1.3 multi point injection (MPi) and 1.6 were the petrol engines and there was a 1.9 diesel.

Assuming a 1.3 MPi, engine coolant temperature sensor and thermostat - if it does not get up to temperature would get my attention first, followed by a throttle body clean.

sounds like a faulty immobiliser unit. my mercedes sprinter van which is in great overall condition, sometimes doesn't start randomly. if i come back a few hours later it starts fine too, it does it maybe once or twice a month

 Tight valve clearances will give your symptoms.
