Passenger courtesy light

Featured Replies

Hi... Can anyone tell me how to replace the rear passenger courtesy light/bulbs? Superb Mk1

I have poked around with a screwdriver but cannot see any obvious access.

Thanks

Use a narrow, thin blade (a screwdriver will do at a pinch, < 6mm wide) and insert this at the front edge of the light centrally. There is a leaf spring catch which you compress by inserting a blade here. Carefully release the light from the headlining - it hooks in at the back end.

Unplug the light from the harness and locate a black plastic plug with a screwdriver slot in it. This is the cap of the special lamp. Rotate anticlockwise and the lamp will come free of the circuit board. There is just enough room to manoeuvre the lamp out of the housing. Be very careful not to damage the alarm components on the circuit boards.

My useless local "Skoda" agent did not have a replacement - all the VW dealers do, of course. The lamp is a special and costs a lot more than it's worth.

Thanks very much for the reply... and sorry for the delay in acknowledging... I forgot I was going away before I posted the question.

Thanks again.
