Putting redex in fuel filter housing.

Featured Replies

Is it safe to fill fuel filter housing with redex when changing fuel filter? Has anyone done this?

Probably not, I'm guessing it would throw the mix off (too much redex which hasn't been mixed with the correct ratio of petrol). Can't see why you would want to, really.

As above, stick it in the tank as per the instructions :)

I'm guessing you want to clean the injectors? Right?

Ever heard of Liquid Moly Diesel Purge Injector Cleaner? No? Well follow these links. Seems quite a popular past time amongst diesel-heads, but not heard of on this forum for some reason.

Not tried it personally as I currently dont have an issue. Might be worth a shot considering your other posts?

I rang Skoda UK about putting the Diesel Injector Cleaner REDOX product in my 2011 VRS. They said NO ! They even rang through and checked with HQ in CZ as I asked WHY WHY WHY.

Eitherway it is a NO NO and they said it will invalidate your warranty as it states NO ADDITIVES in the hand book.

Cheers,

Julian.

TBH just about every car manufacturer says exactly the same thing, but some make's main dealers then suggest using fuel additives when they're servicing your car! (Mercedes springs to mind...)

The 'injector cleaner in the filter housing' trick is supposed to clean up smokey diesels to get them through the MOT. Whether it does any good is a matter of opinion, but I've never heard of it actually doing any harm.

hilarious when they say "any addititves will invalidate your warranty" yeh shame dealers dont know about that 95% sell Forte engine treatments.

I reckon my 184000 miles has invalidated my warranty :) will investigate the additives mentioned in others posts. Cheers for the warning.

A bottle of Redex is enough for a 100 ltrs, i just put in a full bottle every 3 or 4 tankful's, my last MOT smoke test was .84 and the target to beat is 3.0 so it works for me.

i would like to add that i have never had a problem with the fuel systems on any of my previous cars, so it works or i am i just lucky.
