Wipers

Just wondering why the wipers pop up an inch or so when the ignition is switched off?.... I'm sure there will be some clever reason for it.... :giggle:

To the best of my knowledge it's a clever little trick which prevents the wipers always parking in the same place & so avoiding wear on the mechanism.

IIRC, it varies slightly the actual angle at which it sets the arms too, to make it even more of an effective function.

I could, of course, be entirely wrong but I'm sure I read it in a handbook or somewhere.. perhaps.. :wonder:

It could be that they are designed that way, so that the next time you use them the rubbers are stropped in the right direction to wipe. This would reduce the possibility of chatter as the blade starts its' wipe, particularly if it is cold.

Probably the most productive thing I have done today. How sad!

It is intentional to prevent the rubber of the wiper perishing by always being parked in the same position.
