I had a 1.2tsi as a courtesy car when my 1.8tsi was in for repair and I was surprised how well it went for a 1.2. Obviously it was a lot more sluggish from a standing start but once underway it felt fine. To be honest it was not all that more economical than my 1.8 in real workd driving because you do have to work it harder to keep up with the traffic.

Engine pulls well but you will not get anywhere near the quoted mpg. my combine mpg with 12 miles mostly motorway school run is only 38mpg

EEk!

Now my 1.8TSI DSG has a few miles under its belt (13k) I get around 36-38 on my 8 mile A road commute (from the maxidot but taking off the 2mpg optimism!)

I am getting 3-4mpg better than when it was new so hopefully yours will improve with age.

My wife's fabia has this engine, and she only does around town runs, and she gets about 38-40 out of it.

Its an awesome engine for the Fabia, can't see it in the Octy tho, its a lot more car to heave around.

fabia 1.2 tsi Kerb weight - 1,130 kg

Octavia 1.2 tsi Kerb weight - 1,265 kg

its weight only 135kg more or feels like 2 fit birds in the car

My fuelly was from new and even if it improve by 3-4mpg it is still only 41mpg when offical figure is 50mpg combine. then again my Mrs drive it most of the time and all the cars i had she always manage to do 3-5mpg less then me

he only way to know for sure is to book a test drive. I came from a 2.0 Octavia to a 1.2 Yeti and was sceptical that it would be enough to haul around a "big" car (compared with a Fabia), but it's been a complete revelation.

My driving is mainly short runs around town with a one longer run each week on A roads and one on the motorway. Fuelly figures are steadily improving though it has only done around 1400 miles so far.
