Fabi a dashboard illumintaion

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know if the coding can be changed on a new Fabia with a maxidot dashboard so that the guages light up when the ignition comes on, at the moment only the needles light up which makes it hard to read your speed etc at a glance as the figures on the guages are dark unless you put the side or head lights on. Appaently this is possible on Audis as you can select needles only, guages only, or both in the illumination settings. Thanks

i think its done via the eeprom settings >> don't know for sure if it s possible on the fabia !

But i would reccomend to stay a good distance away from the eeprom settings as they are hidden codes and once changed it s a very big pain to have them correctly working !

So until and unless you are absolutely positively sure about the codings ... don't try anything at all

It 's not exactly an answer you would be wanting >>> but i have had issues with the eeprom ... and it s better to be safe than sorry !

Thanks for the advice, I thought about speaking to an auto electrician to see if the day running lights could switch on the dashboard illumination or the sidelights circuit which would probably do the trick, do you know if this would be feasible?

I too have the same problem with my FL Octy, and consider this omission to be a major safety factor.

I seem to think from memory that it can be done on the newer cars as it's a very common mod for Golfs.

You can have it just illuminate the needle, the needles and dials, just the dash etc etc.

Here is all the info for MK4 golf/bora's.

Just to give you some history of it. No idea if it's the same on the Fabia etc.

Thanks, does anyone have any instructions on how to access the coding and also what equipment is necessary / where to get it?

Hi

The liquid crystals have started leaking on my Skoda Fabia  11 dashboard screen. It's a 2010 model. I have been told that a replacement is £860 ouch!!!

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also told that I cannot use one from a scrap yard as it will be programmed to that car and I will have to have a new one programmed to my car.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Janet

All these questions have been answered in your other thread.

All the info in this thread relates to the MK1 Fabia and yours is a MK2.
