need to find a yeti to replace my yeti that was written off last week by an oncoming car on the wrong side of the road

Progress report.... I have ordered the 110 4x4 demo that plumber found so problem solved!

I just need to find a reasonably priced transporter to take it the 600 miles up here. Either that or i take a saturday off work and fly to london then get to kent drive up the road and get a hotel on the way. Either way i cant wait to get our new yeti. We have kept the dog guard from our last yeti. Does anyone no if it will re fit or does the car need drilled and threaded at factory ? Thanks again for the help

Hi Andy,

glad to hear the Monster was available and suited your needs; big fan of the 110 4x4, prefer it to the 140 I had before. Also I sincerely hope you have better luck with her :)

Apologies cannot help with the dog guard other than to say it's an after-market thing, so maybe the supplying dealer in Kent might be able to provide instructions on how to refit it :wonder:

Think flying down and the drive back might be cheaper than transporting :wonder: :wonder: Anyway when you get her home be great if you can post some pics

Regards,

TP

Great news!!!

As to the guard: I wanted to buy the genuine Å koda dog guard from someone on here. The bolts were still in his Yeti. Phoned a dealer to ask about buying more bolts and they said no can do. It comes as a kit with the dog guard apparently. I say apparently as you know how terrible parts people are with actually knowing what is what. So phone your dealer and ask.

Well done Andy, glad it all worked out so quickly (and easily), and well done to James too.

Glad you got sorted.

It never crossed my mind to get atransporter for delivery, I booked two BA flights Edinburgh to Heathrow £135 (cheapest rail ticket I could get was £130 for two singles and a 5hr odd journey ), overnight in Hotel, collect car on the Saturday and drive back up the road, it also helps that the dealer is filling the tank for me. You do have slightly more miles to cover right enough.B)

Hi to all.

Servicepoint where about in Scotland are you?

I managed to get a full tank of fuel and a few hundred quid off the asking price to cover a flight but im so busy at work doing two extensions , a garage and gutting and re doing a house ie kitchen,3 bathrooms to fit and tile, new doors skirtings etc etc. Its a massive job for a one man band like me so im now thinking rather than take 2 days off pay for flights , train to garage , hotel plus fuel that im better employed working and making money. Time is something i dont have.

Where are you getting you yeti ? Got Quoted £253 inc vat for 4 steel rims which seems reasonable. Next to choose winter tyre type??? Thinking of Nokian but haven't checked reviews. Does anyone no if the elegance has front parking sensors as standard over my old se? Is the offroad button standard on elegance 4x4? What is the offroad button? just traction control distributing power to certain wheels or does it have diff locks? Havent found out about dog guard yet..

Hi Andy,

set you a PM about wheels a couple of days back :wonder: if you received it.

Re other questions the Elegance only has rear sensors as standard, it's an option on the front. Off-road button yes standard; changes how the traction system and brakes work to match loose off road (or snow) surfaces, also gives you hill descent control (no diff lock, uses ABS control of the brakes). You also get hill hold (HHC), keeps the brakes on for about 2 seconds after releasing the pedal on a hill to aid pulling away. Other additional features include lumber support, corner fog lights and xenon's with curve function.

Hey plumber thanks for pm. I don't know how to reply to pm? I'm useless with computers.

Cant wait to get it an try the 4wd in the snow with snow tyres. I used to have a subaru justy with 4 really narrow snow tyres and it went through anything.

I was looking for a 110 or 140 se 4x4 until you found the elegance . I have heard the 140 engine isnt much different just the same engine tweaked. Im sure a chip would do the same job as i did find the 110 a bit underpowered towing caravan. Im happier with the 11o elegance rather than a 140 se. So you lke your continentals?

I take it your a fellow tradesman plumber?

Hi Andy,

yes I'm a Plumber, although I teach rather than work on the tools.

Running Continentals summer and Hankook winter; not tried the Hankooks in snow but all other conditions their good. Only road noise on rough surfaces to comment on. Previously used Nokian WR G2 and they were very good but to pricey recently. The Continentals I would rate as so so, will not be replacing like for like.

Ran a early SE 140 (old Tiguan engine) before this 110 and it's hard to tell the difference between the two and yes your right the current 140 and 110 have identical engines, only different gearbox codes and states of tune. Oh the 110 4x4 has 30 Nm more torque than the 110 2wd, which will make a difference.

Andy, I'm just ouside Glasgow.

The Yeti is getting picked up in Isleworth London, the dealer matched the DTD price and offered to fill the tank and fit mudflaps as I was collecting. They did offer to deliver but someone else would have been driving the car up and I wasn't too keen on that. In saying that if you have so much on you are better working on and saving the time and expense of travelling, I have some available time so will travel down on a Friday, stay over and drive back up on the Saturday.

I picked up 4 steel wheels wheels at the end of October from Parks Skoda for £168 inc vat, £253 sounds expensive. I then picked up 2 part worn 215 60 16 Maxxis winter (snowpressa) with 7mm tread for £70 fitted and 2 part worn Bridgeton Blizzaks with 6mm tread for £68 and £10 fitting. I wold have preffered 4 new tyres but couldn't justify the outlay at the moment as I had not long bought winter wheels and tyres for wifes Golf. I suppose £316 for a set for the SM isn't too bad all the same they will hopefully do a couple of winters.

There are plenty of decent part worns on Ebay at the moment, its worth watching and you'll maybe get what your looking for, no previous puctures, even wear and 6-7mm tread.

Andy, i take it you bought the Yeti from Sherlodge?

If you fly down to London area, if you like i could pick you up and run you to Sherlodge.

Were you dealing with Barry?

Thank you all for your kind offers of accomodation and lifts. I may well take up your kind offers yet .

Whilst waiting until we get our yeti i am trying to choose between vredestein snowtrac 3 fitted for 144 inc vat or the new goodyear ultragrip 8 fitted for 128 from a local small independent tyre fitter. Swaying towards goodyear just for the saving and reviews. Ordering 4 steelies from parks hamilton (thanks servicepoint). After reading the posts on here about wheel and tyre size i am opting for 205/55/16 as thats what the dealer (sherlodge)recommend. Next will look for centre caps
