Visteon Audience Radio - AUX .

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am from India and own a February 2006 Octavia 2 L & K, Since the car was the first lot of the cars with the Radio Audience 6 CD changer manufactured by (visteon made in Portugal) it did not come with the Aux- in facility in the glove box.

However the Audience radio unit has the Aux on/off function in the settings, But does not get enabled even after turning on Aux in the settings.

Pressing the CD button twice normally turns on the Aux, But on my audience unit it does enable aux nothing happens.

Could you help me with this, It looks like more of a software/firmware upgrade.

The details of my Radio Audience below please help :

Hi,

Can anyone help with the Aux Issue on the Audience Unit ?

Hi,

Can anyone help with the Aux Issue on the Audience Unit ?

I assume you actually have something plugged in to the auxhillary socket for it to recognise it's trying to read something, yes?

From a quick Google the Audience looks the same as the early Stream headunits. *If* that's the case then there's a quirk of the software in them that shows an Aux option in the settings menu but it doesn't work and it's not actually possible to add a conventional one as the required pins are missing.

It might be possible though to use a Connects2 adapter to give you an aux-in by hi-jacking the CD-changer port.

Not possible on the Audience, the option is in the menu but the external connections are not present so you have nothing to connect to. The only Skoda headunits with functioning Aux in are: Stream MP3, Bolero, Columbus.

What about the jumbo box then, cos the aux function works for mine if you plug something in the 3.5mm jack in that. It is true that there's no EXTRA aux input for apple product et al, cos the audience has an internal 6 cd changer so there's nothing to plug that into as you don't need it.

Shame that it's a bit shortsighted cos I wouldn't bother wanting to change mine if it had that full interactive i-pod option. :0/

Does this mean that it is impossible for me to hard wire any sort of an adaptor (connects2 etc etc) into the back of my Audience that enables me to plug a 3.5mm jack audio source into ???

Yes, the Audience does not have any external cd changer connections as irs all buitin to the main unit.

Does that mean my audience was built differently cos i've obviously got a 3.5mm jack input in my jumbo box? If the box wasn't specified, is something not wired up, ergo if you choose to retro fit the jumbo box with an existing audience HU, you CAN'T get the 3.5mm jack to work?

Can you listen to music through your 3.5mm socket ???

What year is your Octy ???

Yeah, that's the point of having it. Wouldn't be much use selling it as a standard item if it didn't work. I have a '58 plate L&K.

Just thought it might have been a failed attempt at a retrofit.

L&K must get it as standard over the Elegance. It does give me some hope for my Audience.

Dunno about now, but back then it wasn't a optional extra, it came as standard in an L&K.

The audience doesn't have an aux out or cd-changer port so god knows how it's connected to the jumbo box, but mine is!

The image below shows the pin connections on the back for the Stream and Audience, as you can see the Audience has no changer or Line in connections in just the same way the standard Stream (non MP3 version) had no line input.

This is the Stream MP3 version, you can see the Aux in connections on the top right, these pins on the original Stream and Audience serve no purpose. You can also see that some of the other pin arrangements were altered to get the Aux in ground pin.

Obviously not disputing this, just a question bourne of curiousity: there's no question that you can't plug a cd changer into an audience, but how does the jumbo box wire in? Are there two different types of audience, dependant on whether a jumbo box (with the 3.5mm jack) was included from the factory: a 'normal' one and one with some sort of aux connection inputs??

If so, does that mean that you could techinically remove the jumbo box connection and change it to, for example a cd changer or i-pod?

If I recall correctly, my Audience had a firmware flash (at the dealers) back in 2008. There where no faults in the unit it was just flashed when the car was in for a service, can any of you techies shed any light on this. It seems to be around the time that the L&K model started to get the Jumbo box Aux socket ?!?!?!
