Lowered vRS Estate with 15mm Hub Spacers?

Featured Replies

Is anyone running Eibach's (in my case Skoda supplied) with 15mm hub spacers on a MY2011 vRS estate?

I'm getting contact between inner wheel arch and outside of tyre now and then when driving over pot holes (no load). I understand that there is no adjustment on the springs.

There appears to be no such issues with above set up on the hatch.

Looks like a set of spacers will need binning! :(

Any advice please without major work...cheers

I am. No issues at all.

Forgot to say, I also tow a caravan will fully laden boot, again no issues.

Thanks Noba...something must be wrong somewhere...wonder whether there is a difference in the springs as presumably yours are non OEM...not sure if mine are Pro's or Sports...Skoda part no ZGB 1Z3 071 677...

Mine are eibachs and exactly the same as the Skoda ones. 20mm drop I think.

After parking my car alongside Falkster's on Momday the rear does seem to sit lower on his. I still find it odd that his Skoda springs (Eibach Pro Kit) are red when mine and others has black. I did think extra weight above the rear wheels because of it being an estate but I'm still confused by the fact his springs are red. Anybody else with an estate and official Skoda springs have the same colour?

The spacers do throw the wheels out but there is no rubbing on my hatchback.

I think red are the Sport-line springs.

Mine were the OE accessory springs, same part number as above and were RED. They were clearly marked front/rear and EST for the estate. TBH I don't see how you could fit them incorrectly - the diameter is different front to back so the rears would not fit over the damper on the front, or be long enough..

I think these are what eibach calls the "pro" kit.

I sold my springs to Alex @ Backdraft when I got my weitecs - and luckily for you when he sold them a few weeks ago he also posted some pics.

HTH.

Perhaps it's a spacer issue then as the springs appear right.

Went to Midland VW again today and had it on the ramp. They can't see a spring fitting issue (as per Rob's comment it can't be balls'd up) but highlighted the seam between the wing and the bumper which is catching on the tyre.

I still can't get my head around how Noba can run this set up with a full load AND towing where I am empty and catching.

The MVW boys said there may be a slight difference in tolerences and it is just the seam on the nearside rear that appears to be the problem.

They suggested going down to 10mm spacers or removal altogether. Also mentioned that Noba may be on different tyres (will propose a dirty weekend in Exeter to the Mrs so I can visit him :giggle: )

I'd say the springs on the vRS in the link above (http://briskoda.net/..._1#entry2548267) were the Eibach Sportline as they look too low for Proline. Mine isn't that low on Prolines.

Just to confirm, I am running the standard size Conti SC3's and there are not even close to rubbing. However, I see that you mention that its only the nearside which is the problem. This reminded me of a work colleague who bought an identical vRS to mine. When looking at his, it was clear that the body was not sitting squarely over the chassis. One rear wheel arch (can't remember which), was clearly over hanging less than the other side by a good half inch. he nearly sold the car purely based on this, but thankfully kept it. Just a thought for you?

But are you running 15mm spacers as well as Eibach's?

Yep

Yep

Interesting then.

That's a good shout actually Noba and worthy of further investigation...although as I based my decision to go for the estate after seeing Rob_e's I don't think it will visually hurt too much to remove the hub spacers...

Yeah, it does look a little lower. Difficult to tell with that photo though.

Great isn't it (not)? tried to be arty...it needs a wash tomorrow so will take a couple more pics...

There was defo a difference in ride height compared to Moley's hatch. I think you are right though...just manufacturing tolerances but the half inch story was a bit worrying.

BTW having looked at your previous thread I forgot how good your wheels look...superb against the body colour. I'm still toying with the idea of gloss black.

I'm not into the slammed look, but I must admit that the white one above is cool.

Ooo dear! what have we here....you've done it now Rob..

Each to their opinion but I don't get the "dark wheels = chav look"...that looks ace! needs black wing mirrors to finish it off..
