My car has gone

Great update.

Is the overheating a problem on a standard unmapped car or just when you start to imrpove it? I've seen a few posts about problems with plugs and ignition coils, are these getting caused by the overheating or is this something seperate?

Go for a spirited drive for half hour, then pull over and open your engine bay. Its like an oven, massively hotter than any other car ive ever had, and they have all been fettled with and used the same.

The plugs seem to degrade alot faster than normal in these cars, and the plugs ive seen on mine and others have heat marks all over them. Lots of tuners have said the biggest issues on this car is the cooling, and coincidently its also one of the best methods of gaining power on them, whihc goes to show the inadequacies of the std cooler.

Obviously having a car mapped will increase the heat as you run more boost. Im not happy to run any more power until i can control the heat to a acceptable level.Id rather do power reliably.

Would do but I am at the whim of the Skoda Black Hole ordering system!! :( Car should have been in build last week, am assuming it was as nothing heard from dealer (however not assuming anything and will call him on Monday). Still under the delude idea that I will get it as an early Christmas pressie.

Does sound like a significant issue, therefore very interested how your your new radiator and intercooler goes. Already have new headlight bulbs and have ordered winter wheels and tyres, also now looking at a stage 1 remap, RARB (this is not good, don't even have the car yet and am redesigning it :S ).

lol... Damo has taken the sound deadening from the underside of his bonnet, and after a "spirited"... er "seriously spirited" drive, the top of his bonnet (no opening to engine bays here!) was SSOOOO hot, you couldn't touch it without burning your fingers... you could litterally have fried eggs on that bonnet!

I know I don't need to,(I have heard my little electric pump feeding the turbo water after switch off) I still drive in my old turbo from the 80's style.. (I had a saab 900 turbo, a fiat uno turbo, a fiat croma turbo, a lancia thema turbo) and I drive slowly and carefully on the last few miles to turning the engine off , giving everything a chance to gradually cool

This is another reason i am doing the radiator and oil cooler. its a pain in the ass having to do 2-3 laps of the track waiting for the temps to cool down. Uprate the oil and water coolers stay out on the track for longer, then when your finished get off the track quicker.
