Bit of advice please

Hello all, I am new to this site- so not sure if I am putting this on the right forum. I have a Fabia 1.2 Ambiente (2004) -owned for five months- but today the coolant warning starting beeping then flashing. I have checked the coolant level and it is fine. The beeping has stopped but later the tmeperature gauge went up to half within seconds-although it didnt go any further after that.I have read other peoples messages and it would appear that maybe this is a fault and I will need a new header tank. I just wanted to know is it still safe to drive like this (Ie it wont overheat etc) until I can get to the garage at the weekend? Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like the old "sensors corroded in the header tank" problem. If it were me, I'd buy some G12 coolant (about £12-£14) and keep it in the boot just in case.

Does it (the flashing light) disappear after the engine has warmed up and you remove the key and re-start?

welcome to briskoda

Thanks for your reply, yes the light stops flashing after I have been in it once. But the temperature gauge goes more or less straight to half way- then just stays there!!

Welcome, you may be better off posting your question in the Fabia 1 forum?

Doesn't sound too expensive to me?

THanks for your reply- I have now posted on the Fabia Forum :smirk:

Hello chap think you may have two seperate errors here i had same coolant level error message and that was cured by changing the header tank

Does the temp guage move if you just leave the ignition on with out starting the car, have you poped the bonnet after starting from cold and checking if it is warm as quick as the temp guage says it is

HI,no the tmeperature gauge goes down when the ignition is turned off and it always starts cold then goes up to half way within five minutes, but then just stays there?
