As above ... over six weeks ago the car broke down ... various lights came up and the garage ended up sending the ECU to a repairer ... then refitted it after checking the car and finding LOTS of water in the electrics and a "massive" short in a relay. All was sorted out and a wiring harness was also fitted. I collected the car after three weeks ... it only ran for one day and broke down again .... just wouldnt start although turning engine well. No warning lights on dash.

Away again for ecu to be checked and then repaired at their cost .... the garage stripped the car and checked EVERY wire in the looms to ensure they were okay and that, when fitted the ECU would work fine.

After another three weeks I collected it yesterday ... 8 miles later it broke down again. Just wouldnt start. AA thinks it could be a fuel problem .... but the garage is thinking it could need a new loom. If so, its at a cost of £2000 !!! He may build a new one himself though . I now wait to find what happens next.

In the meantime does anyone have any ideas at all to try and narrow down this fault. The garage is a specialist one, but I am at a loss now and ask how much can I buy the correct loom for ? Can one be made ? Is this a recurring fault and does Skoda know about it ?

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Thanks Fial
