Screen wash

Featured Replies

Just wondered what screen wash people use, what with winter coming around the corner,I bought some called pretstone last year,it was yellow and you put it in neat and it had rain guard built in,but can't seem to find it anywhere this year.

Halfords own.

The yellow one in a blue container from Halfords is what I swear by.

Cheap and pretty good for the money. Works fine with fan jets.

This stuff, 50/50 mix, Good for -18 last winteremoticon-0148-yes.gif

Halfords blue ready mixed.

If gets too cold, simply add some concentrated stuff to it.

Whatever concentrate Asda isselling ( Blue) ,at a reasonable price .Add to that a dollop of the cheapest washing up liquid they sell ( cheapest gets ri of grease without frothing) .I mix it 50/50 most of the year .As temperature falls ,it ends up non diluted .I would prefer double strength Clearalex ,with some meths in to stop freezing ,but nobody sells it any more .Mix it double/triple strength in a container with hot water (to totally disolve it ,else you get lumps) ,add to bottle and add dollop of meths .

Screen wash is screen wash to me! I just use the concentrated stuff from asda (blue) and dilute as required.

Roughly what I do - but I ad a bit of Asda cheapo washing up liquid - gers rid of the old bus diesel on the screen .

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I've just finished a bottle of auto glym stuff and didn't get along with the cleaning ability of of it, so actually preferred the cheap stuff from asda which even smells better!

Russian vodka

Halfords double concentrate (dilute yourself).....neat down to -20 to -25c ish......get it in 2.5lt? sizes when on 3 for 2 offer!!!!! B)

Lidl do 5 litre containers that claim to be safe for fan jets and can be diluted quite a bit while retaining good anti-freeze properties.

Put asdas cheapo one in last year undiluted in the end as it kept freezing up when diluted. Dint have any problem with pump or jets and will be doing the same agen year. Like above post pick it up whenever it's on offer.

I use the genuine VAG one, about £3.5 per l but is concentrated, neat down to -70, so you can dilute it quite a bit. Halfords changed their formula in the last few years so they reduced quite a bit the quality and it doesn't resist to freezing as good as it used to, so it's good to check the bottle. The price stayed the same, so they made cuts somewhere else.

Halfraurds, Double concentrated Apple stuff in my car. In the other cars, Ultimate Speed, from Lidl, it's good for -60°C and suitable for Fan Jets. I always dilute them both with water, then when it gets really cold add some industrial IPA to the mix.
