Ah has Fabia

Featured Replies

After four surprisingly short months I collected my vRS last night. Oh man, was it nice driving into work today, having a bit of poke under the bonnet (oo-er) after driving my mother's slow-ass Pug 207 since January, paying keen attention to things like fuel consumption and oil temperature, and of course, that new car smell.

Haven't even tried things like the stereo yet, want to keep an ear out for any funny noises for a few days. The car needs to go back to the dealer (already!) at some point as the head unit on the radio has a couple of lines of missing pixels, and there's a few other things I want correcting (the lane change indicators suck for one thing) but other than that the dealer has done an excellent job for me. I signed up for the service plan thing too which seemed good value.

Hoping on the way home to give it a bit of a shakedown, nothing too drastic with it only having 30 miles on the clock.

I know it might be too much to ask but you would expect it to be perfect when they give it to you.I think the problem is they know after all the delays we will except all most anything to just get in it. I hope the problems don't spoil the experience for you.

as long as there just little niggles its not too bad, myself ive had a creaking back rest on the drivers seat which hopefully there sorting right now and the stone chip sticker by the back wheel is peeling off a little but other than that there a great little car

just keep an eye on the oil usage and dont drive it like an old lady, there best worked a little early on, just dont redline it. use the paddles if it doesnt change up when you want it to, after 6k theres nothing muth there anyways

I was a bit surprised that as they'd given me a form asking how I want the car setting up (in regards to things like central locking, DRL setup etc) that the only thing they got right was the pre-programming of the radio stations. Very odd. Still, I'm very happy to have it, the problems are only very minor and certainly aren't dampening my enthusiasm

So after five days things are still pretty sweet. It's a pleasure to drive and since having it I've found myself getting up earlier for work so I can hop in an have a blast. Which is nice. The only two complaints I've got so far is that there is quite a lot of road noise... I had heard that the Fabia wasn't the quietest car anyway and mine has come with the Dunlop tyres which, according to the reviews, are also pretty noisy. The other thing I've noticed is that it's not great on fuel economy (getting just over 30mpg at the minute) but I know that it'll get better as it's run in, so this is more of an observation than a niggle.

Loving it, only 130 miles done but I've enjoyed every one of them so far.

I would say 30-35mpg is my typical full tank consumption and I am very happy with it considering the performance I am offered. But after 10.000KM I just don't see it improving any more. At least it doesn't unless I drive it like a Fabia 1.2 55HP which I won't do anyway otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I think, and that is a comment towards some people's complaints on the consumption, that the misconception on this one is that some see it as a "cute, little Skoda" and think "well, how much gas would a cute little skoda want?" Well the vRS is not that at all. You can't have such an engine and turbo/superchargers inside and still expect to get the consumption of your old 8v, that's not reasonable. In fact I have yet to see another car which matches the vRS performance and is proven to consume less (forget the official values, they are calculated in totally unrealistic conditions). What I see from my friends cars, (Alfa Mito, Mazda MX5) is that they require more gas, and they produce less performance than mine. But they think it's ok as it's an Alfa or a Mazda and they are "sport" cars... lol...

What colour is it mate?

I pick mine up tommorrow so love reading everyones posts about them, adds to the excitement a bit. I was gonna add a Fuelly signature at the bottom when I pick mine up, but then had a change of heart incase the wife sees it, 'honestly dear, it gets 45mpg' :giggle:

It's not much less mpg than I was getting in my mother's 1.4 Pug 207 and the vRS is significantly more fun so even if it never improves I'll be happy.

I got race blue with black wheels. There's a (crap) pic in the vRS register thread.

I imagine you're rather looking forward to tomorrow :)

Ooooooh yes (Churchill style)

I saw your car the other day in that thread, the black pack and black alloys look awesome with the Race Blue. B)

Im treating myself to an extended lunch break tommorrow, driving 50 miles to the dealer to pick it up and 50 miles back to work, then 30 miles home a couple of hours later. All because I wont be able to wait until 4pm :D
