Car struggles to move when run cold

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a 2000 1.4 8v mpi Fabia.

When i start it in the morning, or if it has been left for a while, the car pulls away slightly then refuses to move. It pretty much idles. I can have my foot hard to the floor in 1st gear and it just bogs down and won't shift until i stick it out of gear and rev, then it usually starts to move. It's becoming a bit of a problem though, especially when i'm trying to nip out of a junction and i'm left sitting in the middle of the road!!

Anyone got any idea of what is causing this???

Thanks

I'm guessing the engine does not rev up as if the clutch is slipping? Might be worth having error codes read with VCDS while also cleaning the throttle body and running a throttle body alignment with VCDS.

The clutch is fine, the engine doesn't increase the revs when my foot goes down! How would i go about cleaning the throttle body? I'm not really wanting to replace it as i'd rather put the £150-odd towards a new car!

I'll get the codes checked too and post up results here :)
