Xenon conversion kit

Featured Replies

Hello there

I have 2011 Octavia II FL, installed with halogen projector lamps. I once installed 35W Osram HID conversion kit but gave light error on dashpod, then I installed 55W Glitz HID kit which didn't give any light error on dashboard but used to flicker in pot holes and finally got rid of them. Now I am left with old halogens, does anyone know what type, power and brand HID should I install?

Put the 35W kit back in, and have the car recoded with VCDS to avoid the bulb failure light. Hopefully it is not a CANBUS friendly kit you already own, you don't need a CANBUS kit at all.

Select xenons without shutters, and switch off cold lamp diagnosics for dipped beam headlights, and you won't have any problems. Loads of folk on here have done just that. It literally is a 2 minute job for anyone with access to VCDS.

Mike

Hello Mike,

On VCDS I only get option of "Bi-xenon with shutter installed" which is not ticked, in 09-Cent Electrics. But I could not find any option of "Cold lamp diagnosics for dipped beam headlights", may be there is no option in 2011 Octavia II FL. Can you give me exact details. I need your help mate.

Really not worth it any more.

If anybody dares point out to a poster the legality issues (which they may not be aware of) then the "usual suspects" churp in.

Those that don't want to accept the legal issues and can't even understand that if something needs to be removed to pass an MOT then it's definitely illegal.

So I've personally given up - and we'll wait for those who fail MOT's after January and those that are pulled over (yes, the traffic police have been given literature on how to spot after-market HIDs) to post here and just complain.

I did, Alam's location is in his signature?! I was anticipating major slating, followed by large portions of humble pie!

As far as the UK goes, the law is the law, I have HID's which have been aligned, I've never been flashed and when driving home from work at midnight after pulling a 12 hour shift they are a god send...........however the reality is they will have to come out! :'(

My next car will definitely have the real deal though.

I agree. There will always be those who believe that the law doewsn't apply to them. And, even though the police will be able to stop these people, and probably slap a VDRS on them, as they've said so often on here "only takes 10 minutes to swap", down to the MOT station, VDRS stamped, 10 minute swap-back. You'd kinda hope that there'll be a record kept and that 'the next time' there'll be a hefty fine, one that'll escalate every time you get caught.
