Problem after filling up with diesel?

Featured Replies

I've just had my car lose power shortly after filling up with diesel, I've posted the details in the Octavia forum. But was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems with their diesels regardless of model?

Not had it myself but have heard of people having problems with dodgey batches of fuel.

Morrisons fuel by chance?

I'm sure my dad stopped using morrisons diesel because they say it is something like 20% bio.

Nope, Sainsburys.

Why Morrisons specifically?

I may be talking through my **** here, but from memory all Diesel (white and red) sold in this country has had to contain between 5% - 7% bio-diesel since Jan 2011

Morrisons pumps show as 7%

I remember that a few years ago Morrisons were selling a 30% Bio-diesel blend. The pump nozzles were bright Orange instead of Black. Most of the car manufacturers said it was OK for their engines, but for some reason VAG in Germany refused to even test it let alone approve it.

I haven't seen it around for ages, so it's possibly been quietly dropped?

Not necessarily true. All BSEN590 compliant diesel has to be between 5 and 7%. However I believe the Morrison's workaround was simply to remove the BSEN590 stickers from the pump, and then they're free to simply sell their non-compliant diesel blend (so long as they're not claiming it's something it isn't).

I don't know for sure though, I never really used it before, and when it came out it was a wrong blend I just never went back.

Morisons sell the 7% stuff and the bio 20 stuff.

Only the first is EN590, but the other stuff is clearly marked as 20% bio.

Why Morrisons specifically?

Just from friends and family who's dervs dont run right on it.

I thought this was still the case?

Filled up at Morrisons yesterday, got 37 miles down the road and toal enginge shut down, garage found number 1 injector failure and possible loom failure, not saying the two are linked but that's the last time I use Morrisons fuel.

I'll only use supermarket fuel in extreme emergencies.
