Southbend "Silent" Solid Flywheel and Clutch

Featured Replies

I saw this clutch listed on darksides website and wa wondering if it would fit the Fabia? Also has anyone got one?

It'll fit as long as you buy the 6 speed one, TDISport were having a group buy on them with Darkside I believe, so there should be a few people popping up who have them fitted shortly.

Is it just me or does anyone else not like the name?

Southbend? Kindov in the same league as uphill gardener??

Yeah is a bit of a gay name. Think they cone from America lol. They have a good choice though!

Yeah I saw this the other day. I wonder how they make it silent... I presume it's a lot heavier than the Helix kit?

If they get good reviews I'll get one and sell my Helix setup, but if I go 1.8T then I can use my Helix kit and it will also be silent (and lighter).

To do with the springs that are used apparantely. The group buy is still active so get in quick! The more people that put their name in the cheaper it is, at the minute we have 10 people so there is £100 off.

Southbend are getting great reviews too, especially this silent kit

Smf's on 1.8t's rattle too ;)

Granted not to the extent of the tdi's but they still chatter

Can't find the group buy for the south bend clutches on there site, I looked in the group buy section?

Nice, when is the GB running to?

They require a £50 deposit asap, closing date is December 3rd with full payment 5 days after :)

I would put a link up but not sure if its allowed, however if you sign up to the TDI sport forum its in the Advertisers/Sponsors Products & Services section but you must be a member to see this :)

oh bigjase i forgot what car you've got now till i just saw it again :) i kinda like the rattle, love ppl tellin me "your cars f@^cked" erm no mate thats meant to sound like that. even better when mechanics keep trying to tell me its knackered, i know jog on shut up and repair what i told ya too!!

what would solid mean on this flywheel? surely if its heavier its not gonna spin up as quick as what we've got helixs for?? or am i being dumb?!

Lighter is better but lighter means more chatter noise!!

Personaly id chose performance and chatter (lighter flywheel) but every1's different

Ive had mot stations saying the gearbox trust bearings knackered, then when you say it has an smf they just look back at you with a blank expression!!

Monkeys!

Smf's on 1.8t's rattle too ;)

My mate has the same kit in his Cupra R and literally can't hear it over the engine :-\
