I think you'll regret that in a year or so. Satin has a tend to 'hand polish' easily. And unless you used a quality paint, and keyed the plastics really well, it won't last.

Although it looks good now, the piano finish would've been better long term, since it won't have any polished spots.

Looks spot on! Good job!

I prefer the original! IMO good job done though

We use a 2 pack spray which we use on commercial fruit machines and they take hammering and it always stands the test of time but you have a point though, maybe if it looks bad later i will get the paino black but it means loads of prep and many many coats of laquer and flatting

oooh the fun

you could have just bought a black surround for an elegance from a dealer.

Just what I was thinking

Wouldn't that cost money ? No need as its free paint that we use at work just don't tell the bosses, no fun just buying it and fitting it.

Bet that would cost about £80 or more from the dealers for a ashtray, radio surround and gear surround

Maybe I'm just one of those who likes to get me hands dirty and have satisfaction in doing it myself

I know exactly where you're coming from. 2pk poly's are great, rock hard finishes (especially when baked for days in the oven - out of the question with plastics), but an absolute pig if you make a mess and have to rework them. I'm surprise anybody is allowed to use them any more. Most people have gone the way of water based rubbish nowadays. Vehicles included. Still got some real nice metallic blue's and purples in unmixed 2pk poly hanging around, and a brand new Devilbiss Gti that I've never used. I'm just itching to do SOMETHING, but sadly no longer work with a spray booth. BAH!

I take back the earlier comment by the way. For some reason I was under the impression you used an aerosol. Although it will still polish up to a degree. I tried a guitar body in 2pk satin black once. Big mistake. :giggle:

Looked great for about 2 weeks, by then the arm polish marks really started to show, and I had to polish it all back to a shine, and lacquer.

we have a booth at work which we use for the machines so its not a oven but it gets a bit warm when ya in it cos its so small lol. Yeh we still have and still use some 2pk, i know everyone blithers on about the new ENVIRON-MENTALLY safe water based stuff but hey i drive with my foot on the floor pushing out as many co2s i can so i figure why not
