Fabia vrs MAF issues?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Picked up my fabia vrs about 10 weeks ago now, and aside from replacing the passenger window regulator within a couple of days, I've also been chasing an intermittant issue with the engine management light.

Initially I thought the MAF sensor was broken, so I bought a cheapo £30 one off ebay (came with a 1yr guarantee, so I thought what the hell).

This didn't cure the problem - so I took it into a garage and it was discovered that I had a split hose from the turbo to the intercooler.

This was replaced (at conciderable cost!), and the problem went away.

Two days later the engine management light had come on again, and I'd begining to wonder about the quality of the MAF from ebay - so I swapped back to the original one and reset the eml.

The problem has not reared it's ugly head for a day or so, but just been out to Asda, and as per prior symptoms - no boost & eml on.

No idea what the fault code is at this stage (had an older universal fault code reader in the car, but laptop was at home :p ).

Has anyone experienced this before?

Starting to get really narked off with the Fabia - and begun wishing I'd stuck with Jap, I really want to love the car - but right now I'm locked in hatred with it....

Someone help me love my car!!!

Bought a £30 off ebay to replace a suspect MAF sensor (no fault codes, but iffy logs). Replaced with ebay MAF which started to fail after 2 months (Fault Codes, impossible values).

These "quality replacements" are not quality. Should not have wasted my money.

I live and learn.

Thanks,

Phil.
