Featured Replies

Can anyone help is there such a thing out there as a front push bar for a Yeti. As i am US at reversing a caravan.

you would be better (and cheaper) to do a Caravan Club towing course!! http://www.caravancl...anning-courses/

IMO you should be in full control of the vehicle and caravan at all times, if your reversing is not up to scratch then get training into how to reverse it correctly, it is not difficult, but it is a skill that needs to be learnt.

or alternatively do not tow it!

Get a self-mover for the caravan? A couple of my caravanning pals have these and swear by them.

Push bars were popular in the past ... but seems to have fallen out of favour.

A caravan mover is an excellent bit of kit, I swear by mine, it's also a whole heap of fun! However they aren't cheap, though cheaper than they once were.

Caravan Club course is a good shout.

I have never taken a reversing course but over the years (too many to quantify :smirk: ) I have acquired the ability to reverse into most required places. Nowadays I have difficulty with pain restricting my neck movement and have fitted a mover. It takes all the difficulty out of moving the caravan and is also so much fun that I'm considering starting a caravan GP series.

I have always been useless with reversing with anything attached and always had a fear of towing, so the tow bar on my x-trail was never used(except to demolish a couple of walls, but that's another story). Training has definitely helped friends who have purchased caravans, so i recommend it. But movers are excellent, my parents have one on their caravan and even my dad can manage it! It also saves dragging neighbours or passers by in to help push the caravan up the sloped drive into its place, now people stop to admire the machine in action, but it scares the dog everytime! But they are expensive!

I agree, probably best to go on a caravan club course, you might then be able to get a discount on your caravan insurance, as well as that, if you can find a nice quiet large area without obstructions then lots of practice is advisable. With that practice you ahould be able to get the hang of placing your caravan exactly where you want it. Motor movers are good bits of kit, I have one on my caravan as it came with it, I wouldn't have bought one otherwise as a good one will set you back the thick end of £800 new.

My late father-in-law was CC member and towed his caravan allover the UK and Europe for many years and managed his caravan positioning very accurately using an electric mover system when he was 80+.

But he did produce quite a bit of smoke one day when he drove off towing the caravan with the system still engaged. So if it doesn't disengage automatically be careful - it wasn't a cheap repair!

Not the fault of the system of course - "driver error" as the insurance company claimed.

Apologies: a bit O.T. because he didn't drive a Yeti - they arrived after he departed.
