Smell of brakes cooking while on a brisk drive.

Featured Replies

I was out tonight driving around some country B roads enjoys the twists and turns. When I came to the end of my lovely spin I noticed a quite profound burning smell. I wasn't driving the car too hard, some hard braking at some points but nothing OTT.

Anyone else experienced this? The brakes are good, although after the brisk drive i noticed the pedal was a tad spongie for about 10mins after but its now as good as it was before.

This normal? Seemed to happen a bit too easily I think.

I'd say it's pretty normal. The XDS diff will work the brakes hard without you really noticing it. I managed to cook mine after just a couple laps on track earlier in the year :o

agreed. I've cooked mine on hartside...

also, how many miles have you done? if the brakes are still quite new, and not used to abuse, they will burn a bit more readily...
