second hand turbo price

Featured Replies

hi guys, just wondering how much is a second hand stage 2 pd150 hybrid turbo worth with approx 3k miles on it?

It has a bolt snapped off in it too - would this be easy to take out?

Cheers

Chris

Probably £500-£700 at a guess

Hi, sorry I'm a newbie but I am getting a map done tomorrow, I have a pd100 and so it will go to about 130bhp if I want to get any more out of it would I need to get a new turbo? Or is it worth getting a bigger turbo anyway so this one doesn't blow? Say a vrs turbo?

The vRS turbos aren't all that to start with to be honest.

It's going to be just as 'highly strung' as the PD100 version after

a remap. Besides the gearbox and injectors are different on a vRS

so I'm not sure how much difference it would make fitting the vRS turbo.

Why don't you just get a map to start with and see how you get on,

it's fairly normal to get around 140bhp from a PD100 after a decent

map. Just don't go somewhere cr@p for it. I'd recommend Shark or Unit 18

if you are anywhere near them.

Top reply thanks mate :) I'm not near them unfortunately, I have thought about going to shark but it would be a 500 mile round trip so I'm going to a friend who specialises in custom maps. Apparently the maps are a template got from a mapped fabia pd100 from Italy mapped to 140bhp and then it is tweaked to my preferences. The map is £250 but they offer a lifetime guarantee on it and a years guarantee on all the parts that it could affect :) what do you think? Cheers Jay

What's the company called? Where abouts are you?

Haven't a clue and I'm in Cheshire, northwest :)

Get some pd130/150 injectors and a stock pd150 turbo

You'll probs need to uprate intercooler and clutch but could see it near 200bhp

So you know what they say they will do. But not who they are

sent from my dribble bus using ketchup !

Cheshire > Shark (NG19 7JZ) is 70 miles from you. :wonder:

Hmm I got told it was Northampton not Nottingham :/ oh well I have booked with this guy now :)

It's your choice at the end of the day, but if I was only 70miles from

Shark then I'd be down there like a flash. S0d the other bloke.

I'd rather use somewhere tried and tested than take a chance with

an unknown quantity. Even the bloke who was mapped by blackcode who

posted in your other thread said he'd rather have gone to shark.

That speaks volumes to me.

They have an excellent reputation and great customer service.

Being a site sponsor it's in their interest to provide a quality service

as they'd never hear the end of it if they didn't do things right.

Also, they use the STS system so you can switch your map on and off as required.

Here's the post from the other thread in full.

I have the Blackcode 'code 2' map. It's okay, nothing has gone wrong in 15000 miles and it pulled 167hp and 289lbft on another mappers dyno. They don't really specialise on any Particular vehicle manufacturer. They didn't seem to know much about the Fabia vRS (nor did I at the time). My advice is go elsewhere e.g shark, P Torque, Unit 18.

£250 is a good price. I paid nearly £400. I have the warranty also, I'm no expert but I don't think it's worth the paper it's written on.

Hth

Even Northampton is just over 100 miles each way! Personally I'd use a tried and tested mapper as gerr says, but it's personally choice!
