Hello to all,

Firstly thanks to the fellow Blue Octavia VRs owner who told me about the site in the car park of the local shop. I am on my first Skoda having owned a number of performance Fords the last one being an ST220 Mondeo. I loved that car but the Fuel and £430 road tax finally forced my hand so I bought what I considered to be the most comparable vehicle performance wise but one that would be cheaper to run. I picked up my VRS diesel from a dealer in derby in February and it took me a good couple of months to get used to the different characteristics of a diesel, also after 3 months I noticed the car seemed to be dropping a large amount of oil and with the assistance of my fellow Skoda owning mechanic this was traced to the rocker cover, every bolt of which was completely loose. Having had this sorted I am now much happier and enjoying the car. My question to anyone that might know is why would the dealer have had the rocker cover off ? Would not have thought that would have been a routine service procedure. Would not have thought that every bolt could have worked itself loose through vibration so am assuming that it has been off and whoever did it forgot to tighten the bolts. The car is an 08 plate by the way and was not bought from a Skoda dealer.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello and welcome to the forum, that is a very strange thing to happen?? If it was me I would be tracing back through the service history/ warranty work that has been done also try calling the said dealers that have worked on it and find out

Sorry for the delay in responding, technical issues ! Thanks for the advice, I have had a look at the history and there is nothing obvious.

Hello andyc4957 and welcome along

That's quite a strange thing to have happened, afraid I can't offer any possible answer but do hope that you manage to solve the mistery
