Oct Scout CR to Honda CRV?

Featured Replies

Guys,

Had the scout a year now and bored with it, not sure why but some how it doesnt feel special enough for £20k. Spoke to the suppling dealer and there give me almost what I paid for it. I think so of it is the boring nature of the 140 cr, the wifes 140PD Altea is loads more fun.

So, do I keep it and get a shark remap, golf `R` anti roll bars and vrs brakes or trade it for a honda crv?

Any thoughts welcome :-)

Get a remap!

CRVs are sooooooo boring.

Personally I'd go for a change, even though I wouldn't have a CR-V.

If you've been offered nearly what you paid for a 60 plate car you've had for a year then that's a good deal.

Not often will you get almost free depreciation use of a new car for a year.

Once you modify the value will go down, plus you will be losing any money spent on it as modifications never add much value to the car. Then, if it still doesn't excite you your position is much worse financially.

Just my 2p, even though I have been known to do a little modifying myself.

One thing is for sure, if the CR-V fails to feel more special than the Scout (I'll put money on it :giggle: ) and again you want rid a year later I'll guarantee it won't be worth what you paid for it!

The grass often looks greener on the other side, when it comes to the Octavia, especially the Scout then trust me it isn't!

Stick with it knowing you have the best rugged 4x4 estate on sale today

Keep it another 2-3 years then sell it to me!

My old man has a CR-V - more bells & whistles for sure but I wouldn't swap.

If want something that goes abit better dont buy a crv they are very tractor'ish,

What about a volvo xc70 d5, similar haldex system with 60 more horses up front

Think it might be the remap option... Seen a video on line that shows how crap a crv 4x4 system is (2008 crv, 2010 crv face lift might be different)it was against a number of 4x4's. The closest to the scout was a passat 4motion, i guess gen 2 haldex, my scout is gen 4 and it was miles better.

search for "Not All AWD is Equal" on youtube. Might be a fake????

Also just seen that REVO are doing free sps and 10% off, so I guess thats £399+vat - 10% = 359.10+vat = £430.92

Umm just need to sort out what to do about the arbs....

Cheers,

SWIMBO have a CRV and I really like it - but thats probably cause i'm getting old an gray!!. It's a very "lazy" car to drive and very comfortable. Does close to 40 mpg. But if you want something more exciting it probably isn't teh car for you.

If you can change for almost nothing I'd do it.

Spend 10k on an R32 and keep the rest for fuel.

CRV is a great car, but not an exciting car.

Problem is that my job means that I could do approx 30k a year or 10k. Currently at the 10k option, but it could change at any point. On a run with the winter tires on at just under 70 I got 63.7 indicated mpg, so I know that the scout is an awesome package :-) and I know that in these times of uncertainty Im most blessed to be able to have a £20k car. Sometimes I wish I didn't like cars and that any car would do if it had 4 wheels.....

I think you've just answered your own question there.

If you think the scout boring ,you'll fall asleep in the CRV.
