Gosh! I have a problem :( - Dropped screwdriver in the engine

Featured Replies

Tryed to change my bulbs tonight and figured out that I needed to screw out two small screws.. but while I put the screwdriver on the top of the engine and tryed to take out the bulb the #(¤&"#" screwdriver felt down in the bottom of the car I think :(

I cannot see where it is! and under the car its a big metal-plate (rugh road package).

Wounder if its safe to drive to the skoda-garage with the screwdriver in there or safe to start the engine at all? its about 20cm long I think.

is there anyting in the bottom of the engine that is moving?

EERM yes the driveshafts, CV joints etc!! IF it is resting againt one of them then it could make a mess.

Pop the RRP of and the screwdriver is likely to be sitting on it.

Anyone know how to remove the RRP easy? Tryed to find a picture of it but I cannot find anything..

I did a similar thing when I was trying to change the coolant bottle on my mkI Fabia. Do what I did and jack the car up on the front on any side and that should give you enough clearance to get under it. Then, if the RRP is held on like the mkI's underbody tray, a torx screwdriver is your best friend. Unless that's the screwdriver that's been dropped!

Good luck!

I took the chance to drive to work this morning anyway.. with luck (no scratcy sound from the engine)

I stopped the car a bit hard to make sure the screwdriver moved forward and it did.. I used a magnet with a tiny wood-stick and hooked up the screwdriver from front of the radiator :)

At least you didn't drop anything inside the engine.

Glad you got it out in the end.
