So THIS is the Dark Side.

I bought a 10 year old Skoda Octavia 4x4 Elegance yesterday. It has a faint whiff of dog, and the CD changer is blowing raspberries at me, otherwise all is good. Oh, and it seems hell-bent on locking me in-is this normal? It goes nicely, and I've had fun with the mpg and clever stats button on the wiper arm. My last car was a 12 year old BMW 3-series, and currently the Octavia is pi..ddling all over Germany's finest in every respect. I'm loving the turbo. Long may this honeymoon last!

Hello and welcome. Yeah, its quite normal for the car to auto-lock once you go over 10mph. Stops you, erm, stops you being hi-jacked I suppose.

Welcome! I wonder if it's mapped? Sounds like your door switch has gone, very normal at that age!

Welcome to Briskoda. I really disliked the obtrusive 'clunk' of all 4 doors locking automatically on my since replaced 2002 Octavia 4X4 so I disabled that feature using VCDS (a diagnostic tool). I have since done the same with my Octavia II 4X4. I hope you enjoy your new car as much as I did in 9 years of ownership. It really is a capable car, and the more so if remapped.

Hi and welcome aboard.
