Hi everyone,

Do we have any Ford specialists on here?

Basically, a friends 2008 Mondeo Ghia X 2.2 turbo diesel has entirely died. The car will not rev over 3k and is returning >20mpg... The car has been in to the Ford garage and they have NO idea as to what it could be and are basically taking the ****.

Is there anything that you lot could suggest?

Thanks

If it's still under warranty I'd be thinking about another garage.

Has he eml come on? Had it plugged into a code reader?

There's no dash lights on and it was bought second hand so out of any warranty etc

Bought recently? Surely the Sale of Goods Act must give him something?

If it's not covered by SOGA, then I'd look at the MAF sensor and make sure it's plugged in and if it is that it's working well.

You remove it to get to the air filter on a focus, so i'd guess it's similar on the mondeo.

Next candidate would be the turbo sticking, but I don't know the ford turbo well.

Ford customer services are very helpful, i phoned them on my sisters behalf after the bunch of muppets at ford garage in doncaster failed to fix her fiesta even after it had broken down in there carpark when she went to pick it up after its 3rd visit for same problem

They are prone to injector failure but I would think a Ford garage should know that.

Yeah this has been suggested. Apparently there are 4 computers inside the car that aren't communicating and the technician can't bypass them to scan the ECU.... Sounds like bull**** to me as he could go direct to the ECU.

The cars gone to a friends garage who is a rally car specialist etc so hopefully he can diagnose the problem

I presume the usual tricks of disconnecting the airflow sensor and engine temp sensor to see if this improves things have been tried?

I had a hole in the turbo piping on mine, but had the EML on as well. Hopefully wont take your dealer 6 weeks to get a new pip with inbuilt sensor. :dull:

Thank god we've gone to VAG and I get my new one Wednesday. VCDS here we come B)
