Hello! I'm new to briskoda and new to driving a skoda :)

Featured Replies

Sooo after my 1991 Renault clio decided to try and kill me when the brakes failed I started to look for a new car and thank god ended up with a skoda fabia :D so a nice car to drive and I love proving people oh so wrong when they try and make skoda jokes, because there's no joke about a nice solid German engine under the hood ;)

Hello and welcome.......

I take it it's a basic 1.4MPI version......my mate has a "w" reg.....nice (I do the work on it). You will find out that like all cars there are known problems with them....but they are easy to fix and the right replacement parts solve the problems. B)

Thanks

Yep that's it 1.4mpi, I had a look for common faults online and printed a list to make sure I got the right one. It has full skoda service history and a new head gasket and coolant bottle last year so that shouldn't be an issue for the time I have the car :) any thing else you would recommend doing to it? Cheers :)

So the list should also say

Front anti-rollbar & bushes

rear bush on front lower wishbone (also known as console bush)

front drop links

rocker cover gasket

Power steering sensor

For the MPI engine

thermostat housing and sensor

As it is a basic MPI you don't have the following problems

ABS sensors and reluctor rings

ABS units

Electric windows

Air conditioning

Haynes do a manual for the Fabia....get one!!!

Do an engine flush with your oil change see my post....linky..... B)

Either Skoda put more goodies on it.......or it was specced up by original buyer!!

Welcome to the site and congrats on your purchase. No doubt you will find answers to most or all of your questions if you have any, namely in the Fabia section of this forum.

Ah lucky me then :D definitely going to do that engine flush its started tapping like mad which is upsetting as I only bought it on Sunday :/ I'll do a whole filters, plugs, oil service as soon as I can. Oh and one thing the original buyer didn't bother with that I pretty much need is front fog lights, where do I get some and how much can I expect to pay? Cheer.

And thanks for all the welcome messages to everyone else :)

Scappies......and wiring looms etc...........first thing is to wet sand and polish the headlight lenses.......just google it (did it to my mates MPI....alot better now...just take your time and use a plant spray bottle with lots of water for the hand wet sanding..(I have skoda headlamp protectors so mine have allways been nice and clear).....then get either Phillips or Osram 100% brighter bulbs fitted.....like these....

H7 for main dipped beam..........H3 for High (flash) beam..........if you had front fogs the bulb is H3!
