Revs rising and dropping on there own

Featured Replies

When the car has warmed up and idling the revs rise to just over 2k and drop back to 1k Every few seconds

Would that be an air leak somewhere?

could be or possibly a sign that the MAF is on the way out...

I had something similar on our Fabia and it turned out to be the coolant temperature sender - only a few quid to replace...

Its abit of a jerky ride too. On overrun the speed drops off quick too it's like the diverter valve has gone again.

On the drive home tonight I could hear the dv dumping boost when changing gear, I have the new revision one too

I had this on my mk5 gti and it turned out to be coils packs.

My vrs petrol mk2 had the same problem. Turned out the throttle control body was full of gunk. Stripped and cleaned and the problem went away. That was 2 plus years ago and all still fine.
