Glad to be joining the Skoda family in the very near future. Only found this site today and amazed the amount of helpful information found here.

Wonder if you can help me out on my final choice for my Octavia Estate engine.

I have a choice of Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI CR SE or the 1.4 TSI engine; most recommendations lean towards the TSI engine, unfortunately the wait and price difference are stopping me for making this the obvious choice.

My question is, what are your thoughts on the 1.6 TDI engine and if there is a considerable difference between the two. I am most concerned with how the car handles in lower gears..

Hi and welcome aboard.

We just bought a Skoda. Tried test drove the 1.6 CRD - perfectly OK once you get it moving. However we are used to 2 litres and chose the 2.0 CD. Not quite as economic but has some poke.
