Cruise control stopped working

Featured Replies

Today my cruise control just stopped working, the buttons just don't do anything anymore, has anyone had this happen?

Do your brake lights still work?

No sure, I know a headlight bulb has gone.

I assume that this operates the same as the Octavia, if the brake pedal switch has failed then the cruise stops working. Also the clutch pedal switch can do this but brake pedal switch is more common.

Where is the switch located, is it under the dash, will Vag-com diagnose the problem?

the switch is on top of the brake pedal. Stick your head down in the footwell with a head torch on and you'll see it.

Vcds might allow you to see. The pedal switch has two outputs, one for the lights and the other for the ecu.

Is it possible that the death if the cruise controll is linked the the headlight bulb?

Wouldn't have thought so

Outputs from brake, clutch and and cruise control switches are easy to check with vcds

Cruise has started working again, very strange :dull:

Do you have vagcom?

Checked fuses? Check the switch is working by selecting measured value blocks.. Check the cruise control is still activated?

Nope did nothing and its working.

Cruise has started working again, very strange :dull:

As stated, could be either the clutch pedal switch or the brake pedal switch.

Also, the stalk itself can go bad. I've heard of dealers spraying the stalk with electrical contact cleaner and giving all of the switches a good seeing to <f-nar>...
