Is there an option to check the boost pressure in VagCom? I would of thought the ECU would need to know boost pressure as part of the fueling strategy?

Yes, can be monitored in measure blocks, then plotted to a graph if you wish to record it.

4th gear is best to use for logging.

Regarding the fueling. The smoke limiter map by standard goes of the MAF reading. However it can be changed to go of the MAP.
