Yeti Repeated Failure - Engine Safety Light

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was a very pleased owner of a 1.2 E Skoda Yeti. Bought in the UK back in Feb 2009.

My wife and I chose it to replace our small car when we had our first child and absolutely love everything about the design and features. However we have encountered a repeated fault that our dealer seems unable to fix and I wanted to find out if anyone else has encountered the same issue?

Basically whilst driving the engine safety light kicks in and limits the speed down to about 15 miles per hour. This has now happened 5 times since we bought the car nearly 2 years ago. Initially our dealer could not replicate the fault and told us there was nothing wrong and sent us away. It happened again and the dealer had a look but gave us the car back. The next day it happened again whilst in the outside lane of the motorway with my son in the back seat. This was very scary and upset my wife greatly. I forget the exact sequence but it also happened on a busy crossing causing us to be in danger again - not an great situation for a family car.

The dealer then replaced some sensors and changed the supercharger over. This seemed to rectify the problem and we had no issues for 8 months but it recurred again 2 weeks ago. We are now driving around in a hire car and have written to the dealer rejecting the vehicle and asking for a replacement. I won't go into how poor the customer service has been but a new car should not end up in the garage 5 times in 2 years and behave in such a dangerous way. We are still awaiting the response from Skoda and the dealer to see what they will offer us as a replacement. We love the Yeti and ideally just want a replacement but my wife has completely lost faith in the vehicle we have. My reason for posting is that I would like to try and find out if this has happened to others or is a likely to happen again if we manage to get a replacement Yeti.

Any and all feedback appreciated.

That all sounds appallingly dangerous to me. I fully understand your wife's reaction. Hope you get it sorted, one way or another. Please keep us all posted as to whatever outcome you achieve. Good luck!
