Glow Plug Light Flashing: Octavia I

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Ocatvia 1.9 TDi (99 Reg), and on driving home tonight my glow plug light started to flash, now this has happened before a few months ago but it went off again on the next run in the car. I don’t experience any loss in power but I have checked my rear lights (as discussed in another post) and indeed my brake lights are not working. I am assuming that I have a faulty brake switch/relay? Has anyone had this problem and subsequently provide a solution?

I have a can of electric relay/switch cleaner so I can attempt to clean it, which may help but I am unsure what relay I would need to access?? (am familiar with access after having to change relay 377 for the windscreen wipers).

Any help would be much appreciated

Do you have a high level light and is that working?

If not then its more than likely the switch, replacement switches are about £12 from a dealer.

No point cleaning it as its the ratchet part of the switch that goes, new ones have done away with in in favour of a simple plunger.

High-level light = the light in the top centre of the rear window, sort of self-explanatory. You know, the one which really annoys you when the driver of the car infront sits in a queue of traffic with their foot on the brake.

Bought a new switch from eurocarparts this morning and it has solved the problem. Thanks Tech1e
