Oil Sump Replaced now Low Pressure

Featured Replies

Hey Guys

PD100 1.9tdi with 138k full service history, just had my oil sump replaced my the garage up the road from work because they were "reputable" and now I'm getting the low pressure light after driving about 20 miles, turn car off let it stand for ten mins, won't come back on for 20 miles.

Took it back to garage and they said they can't find a problem.....

Any ideas of what this could be? Quick fix or is it likely to be oil pump or something?

Is oil pump job hard on these? I could have replaced sump myself just haven't had time because of work.

Blocked oil pickup maybe?

Blocked oil pickup maybe?

I'll check this sunday, other things to note are they said they'd do a full oil change when changing sump but have only billed me for 1 litre of 5w30 fully synth, but on the dip stick the oil seems very dirty and contaminated.

Also performance seems to have dropped. doesnt seem to pull as much higher up the rev range.

I'd be taking the sump off and checking the pickup pipe, if the problem has arisen from them having the sump off..

Also your oil will go black straight away as soon as the car is started so I wouldn't worry about that..

Really hope it's something as simple as that.... I'll try and get into garage tonight to whip it off, what do i need to clean it and whats the best sealent to use for the sump?

Bet the pick up is blocked with either old sealer of they have used to much and it's dropped off inside.
