Completely baffled!

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

I really am sorry to post yet another topic about winter tyres but I really am baffled!

Right last winter it seemed so easy to get hold of some winter rubber for the pug with it's 175/65/14 wheels.

This year I really am struggling!

We have just had some new all season tyres on our newly refurbed wheels and I paid £240 all in.

I am now looking for winters and can't seem to find any that are less that about £107 a corner! And the places that do seem to have them only have one tyre choice.

The size of my current tyres are 195/55/R15 85H.

I think I can got to a 205 width but changing the profile to either 50 or 65 makes the difference too great.

Been looking for weeks and god knows how many hours I have wasted!

Starting to think I won't even bother!

Any help greatly appreciated... or on the other hand if everyone is sick of hearing about winter tyres then move along and I'll just forget I ever thought about fitting them in the the first place! :)

Phil

Try www.oponeo.co.uk, they seem to have quite a stock of winter tyres at the moment, and include free delivery in UK. Hope this helps.

J.

mytyres.co.uk seem to have a good selection for the size you quoted from £42ish to £130.

Cheers guys.

Hadn't given much thought to getting them from somewhere like that.

Was only looking at tyre fitting places.

So I can get some Nankang SV-2's for £51 each. They seem to have got some good reviews from people.

How much should I be expecting to pay for fitting? If I book it through mytyres it costs £14 per tyre which seems a bit much to me.

Got a polish garage near me, they charged me £15 for two at the begining of the year but only charged me £15 for 2 puncture repairs this week after i realised i could bargin with him lol. I recon he'd do it for around £20 to £25 for all for with some bargaining lol

Ah cool.

Where are they then?

Can't think of any car garages near you.

Yes I saw your thread and did a search on them as mytyres.co.uk sell them at a decent price.

I'm still trying to convince Sven we should get some...

We have just had some new all season tyres

Are they really all season tyres or are they summer tyres? Some of the good quality all season tyres are also very good on snow and ice, and if I had them fitted I probably wouldn't bother with winter tyres.

Camskill have four tyres this size listed today - I quite like the Snowtrac 3 tyres at £85 a corner, but you'll have to arrange fitting yourself.

Good point!

They are Barum Bravuris 2's (made by continental I believe).

I think we have said that if we find we are struggling with the car then we will either get some or just leave the car at home! But I doubt it will get that bad and seeing as though we don't have hills in York and don't commute or have any plans of really going anywhere then we might be ok!

Barum Bravuris 2's are good tyres, much undderated, a mid range price for top performance :)

summer tyres though!

Yes I have been most impressed with the grip so far!

And for what I paid for them they are a bit of a bargain really.
