Fabia vrs Radiator

Featured Replies

Ive got a very very small leak in the hose to the radiator. I was just wondering if its ok to top the coolant level up slightly with ordinary water, but unsure as its supposed to be a sealed system?? Any answers would be greatly apprechiated, cheers

Replace or repair(?!) the hose ASAP before it gets worse, under runing conditions it'll be considerably worse. System pressurises as it warms up leading to any leak getting worse. If it can't pressurise at all you potentially run into issues such as the thermostat not working properly and coolant boiling in the head. Unlikely in our current weather though unless under prolonged heavy load...

For minor top-ups, "soft" tapwater is fine. Living in the SE, I've also used filtered water from the fridge to reduce any potential scaling/deposit issues.
