Have you cleaned the small temperature sensor inside the MAF with some decent contact cleaner? (I suggested it a while ago in one of your threads as it work on our Toyota Yaris)

Do you still have the eBay maf sensor on? they are a really strange thing the mafs the cheap ones can play up, a friend got one from euro car parts which was spot on, might be worth a change.

Hi i havent cleaned it as i thought as it was brand new :(

also yes its one off ebay maybe i should just buy one from VAG :(

REALLY DOING MY HEAD IN NOW I SWITCH OFF THE LIGHT and a few days later the EML come back on for no reason grrr

OEM is the way forward, the eBay ones are sometimes unpredictable, in the case of MAFa it can mean buy cheap, buy twice.
