Cd auto changer

Featured Replies

I only just realised that I have the auto changer in the boot. Tbh I don't even use CDs anymore. Everything is downloaded and kept on iPhone and iPod. When I buy a car I always look for the aux in connector. Are you all the same?

Since I got my current car with the Bolero head unit I've not put a CD in it ever. Just use a USB stick in the MDI. Could have saved some money and just used SD card.

Do you reckon there's a market for autochangers?

Sounding like you considering ripping it out for ebay :giggle: prob would sell as there are a lot of oldies out there who still use the old laser discs I call them Retro people.

I use the CD changer in my Bolero I have 6 CDs full of MP3 tracks and an SD card which is more than enough for me as I listen to the radio all day.

I may be one of the Oldies as you call us but id rather spend 10p on a blank CD than a few hundred on an Ipod.

When I want to leave the car (does happen) I can take ipod with me and watch movies on it or listen to music. These are not options a CR-R offers :p didn't and dont cost hundreds of pounds but it does outlast cheapo CD-R's.

I just use the radio and the SD card...you can fit alot of music on a 16 GB card.

I have used the CD, but just to prove it works. In fact the CD is probably still in there.

I still use CD's and MP3 discs as I don't have the MDI. Changing tracks on the ipod is too much of a hassle when driving and the Aux In is very quiet which means I have the ipod volume on max and the head unit volume on about 14.

MDI is my choice (with my whole music collection on a HDD) but it is quite difficult to select stuff on the move on the touch screen. I used the in-dash 6 CD changer in my last car (it had no aux or media in) but I don't think I would ever get round to changing the CDs in a changer in the boot.

Memory cards are probably the way forward but the current Bolero SD implementation is flawed by the track limit. Once SDXC comes in and with newer hardware surely its got to be a way of saving weight/cost/complexity in the future.

Our lad has a £40 stereo in his Felicia that has aux-in, USB and a SD card reader and no CD at all. He's well pleased with it.

To be honest I could live without the CD drive and I can see the day soon they won't be fitted to cars. Who'd have thought that ten years ago when they were still fitting cars with tape cassette players.

Good thing about the 6 disc auto is that it provides you with 6 cdr ice scrapers in the winter 😃
